Randomly Tweet Old Blog Posts via Tweet Old Post Plugin for WordPress

I was always concerned about promoting my blog posts using Twitter. I used Twitterfeed, Ping.fm and other services but no service gave me the thing I always wanted. What I was looking for, a service which can randomly pick a post from my blog and tweet it. It is better in the way that your old blog posts also get rejuvenated.

In case of Twitterfeed and Ping.fm you can set them to tweet the new posts you are writing, so as soon as you write a new post it will get published to Twitter. But there is no way you can automate the tweeting of your old posts.

    Hi Harsh

I am so not a techie but love blogging so like to visit techies sites to see if there is anything that I should be doing to improve my blog presence in social media especially.

Can only assume lots of bloggers are using by the amount of old posts being tweeted at the moment. My concern is I often click onto the article to go across and read it and especially on popular posts that if I wanted to comment or ask a question I usually don’t as too many comments already so if see it is old post usually click off unless it really amazing post that I need the information on.

Also, what is the motivation for tweeting old posts? Is it to get more traffic or what? Just asking as newbie to all this.

Suppose you have written 100 posts and per page 10 posts are there. So, on your home page there are just 10 posts and visitors to your blog mostly see those 10 posts only. But, there are many good posts hidden in the remaining 90 posts. Tweeting old posts let others know about your old posts and hence rejuvenating them. Obviously, it increases traffic.

Thanks for that. Now I see why. With only about 20 plus posts at the moment it is easy for my visitors to click on them all. As I visit more blogs I keep learning more.

    Hi,
I have a question This is a great plug-in. It’s worked really well for a while now. I’m having a problem though. I’m using it on two sites and both sites stopped working three days ago on October 5th 2010. I’m not getting any error messages. Only thing weird is that when I hit the “Tweet Now” button on the settings page the message I get says “No post found to tweet. Please check your settings and try again.” I’ve tried changing the settings but it still doesn’t work. I’m still connected to twitter. Any thoughts?
The sites that I have the plug-in on are http://www.mobilelifetoday.com and http://www.chickensoncamera.com. Both sites are running WordPress version 3.0.1 and I’m using Tweet Old Post version 3.1.
It’s just strange that both sites stopped working on the same day.

    Thanks!

Can u tell me what “both sites stopped working three days ago” means? You mean sites were not opening thereafter?

I have using Tweet old post for some time and I really like this plugin as it helps me to drive traffic to my old posts…
Though we need to take care of few things like select categories carefully as there is no need to tweet outdated posts..

You are right Harsh. I totally agree.

This is an excellent plugin that I am using on my blog. However, I just set the interval between tweets around 6 hours, it would be a mistake if we abuse this tool.
What an impressive blog you are doing here, Harsh.

Basically i do not like this plugin becuase if you are running a news blog. it tweets old post and irritates your twitter followers.
